Abstract

A method of preparing a TiAl base composition containing niobium and chromium according to the formula Ti48 Al48 Cr2 Nb2 is taught. The composition is melted and cast. It is then homogenized at temperatures up to 1400° C. The cast and homogenized composition is enclosed in a restraining band, heated to forging temperature and forged. Following the forging, it is annealed and aged.
