Summary
The second tranche of declassified UAP records published through the PURSUE initiative at war.gov/UFO, released May 22, 2026. Release 2 comprises 6 documents and 1 audio file from 4 agencies, introducing three entirely new institutional archives to the PURSUE corpus: the CIA (1973 HUMINT report on a green luminous object at Sary Shagan, Kazakhstan), the Department of Energy (three records: a formal PANTEX radar incident report, 1948-1961 LANL green light correspondence, and a 1986 LANL scientist meeting invitation), and ODNI (first-hand field investigation account from late 2025, western US weapons range). DOW-UAP-D017 contributes 116 pages of AFSWP/USAF documentation with 209 sightings and copper powder physical evidence from Sandia Base, 1948-1950. NASA-UAP-D008 is an audio record of the Apollo 12 crew medical debriefing describing light flashes observed during lunar transit.
Significance
PURSUE Release 2 expands the institutional scope of U.S. government UAP disclosure beyond the military and law enforcement agencies of Release 1. The three DOE documents and DOW-UAP-D017 collectively provide the first institutional documentation from the U.S. nuclear weapons complex: PANTEX (assembly), Los Alamos (design/operations), and Sandia (engineering). The ODNI document is the most current record in the entire PURSUE corpus — a late 2025 field investigation by a currently serving senior U.S. intelligence official, describing the closest confirmed physical proximity (10 feet) between a UAP and a manned aircraft in any released government record. DOW-UAP-D017 is the most evidentiary single document in Release 2 — 209 sightings, physical trace evidence, and the foundation of Project Grudge.
