Summary

The Apollo 17 mission transcript from December 1972, released as NASA-UAP-D2 via PURSUE Release 1 on May 8, 2026. Apollo 17 was the sixth and final crewed lunar landing mission and the last time humans walked on the Moon. The transcript documents mission communications between Commander Eugene Cernan, Command Module Pilot Ronald Evans, and Lunar Module Pilot Harrison Schmitt — and Mission Control. The PURSUE release identifies the transcript as relevant to the UAP record; the Apollo 17 mission is associated with documented anomalous light observations made by the crew during surface operations.

Significance

NASA-UAP-D2 is the primary transcript record for the Apollo 17 mission including the anomalous light events documented in the Apollo 17 lunar lights case. Harrison Schmitt described unusual light effects he called 'Fourth of July' phenomena during surface operations. The transcript provides real-time crew communication context surrounding those observations.
